So, what is it all about? First of all, I started running yesterday again, after a little self-intervention I had and because of the nice weather. It’s been reaaaally long, since I moved my legs to some rhythms in a non-dancing way, so I went easy on myself, and did round about 5k. Starting slowly, you know. This was also the first opportunity to check out the ‘new’ Nike+GPS app I had for quite some time now, and it turned out to be pretty neat. I uploaded the run to my profile, so you can check it out here – and now also see a replay of my track through Schönbrunn. Unfortunately it’s all embedded in Flash, so I can’t include it here.

OK, now switch of topic. I stumbled across a sweet little page called booksOfAdam, where the writer Adam Ellis posts in short stories about his life, and gives it a nice extra touch by adding little drawings to make them complete. To cut down the wait

Sightseeing Pictures

The Highlight

Coming home late I managed to get ready and suit up as planned on Thursday, left the office at half past two and drove to Linz, where we had cards for the culinary art festival galadinner with star-cook Steffen Henssler. At 6pm we took our seats at the famous Pöstlingberg-Schlößl, high above and with a beautiful view over Linz. I can’t translate or even describe all the flavors and details about the food, but it was outstanding … really a once in a lifetime experience, and I’m glad we did this. I have also to point out that S. Henssler is  a very nice guy, who signed the cookbook, let us take a photo with him and was open to some cooking related smalltalk. What’s next

I spent the night in Linz (thanks btw), and headed home to Vienna (or directly to the office to be precise) at half past 6 on Friday. Pretty tired but happy the day went over quite smoothly. In the evening I picked up the stuff for the halfmarathon tomorrow morning, at which I’m gonna participate for the first time. I’ve number 20138 .. just in case you see me coming by :)

Weather & Sports

Last Sunday the weather suddenly changed and one got a first glimpse of the upcoming Spring. I doubt it’s gonna stay like this for long. Besides the weather, everything is still kind of the same. Work is good, and I try to do sports on a regular base. I subscribed for this years half-marathon in April, will start to play (indoor) volleyball beginning next week, and on Friday there’s a little badminton-tournament with work-colleagues (just for fun (?)).

Money & Food

My car is causing some troubles recently, have to drive it to the garage asap. Hope it doesn’t get to expensive to repair it, but with a “check engine” light i can’t drive to my hometown to get it fixed there. I also tried to improve my cooking skills by trying out some new stuff (like barbarie duck or healthy burgers … yes, with spinach!…), so here are the pictures in case you missed it. There’s also an outstanding meal my GF prepared for me when I came home from work on a Monday.

As you know I’m currently in Salzburg/Lungau skiing, been here since the 1st and will stay for two or three more days. Skiing is awesome as usual, although we could really use some more snow here. How come you laugh?

As the eagle-eyed among you might already have figured out by himself, I’m switching back to English when it comes to writing posts. I decided so cause of using English now on a daily basis at work anyway, cause of the latest comments which showed English-speaking subscribers, and … well that’s basically it. I don’t want to look up every second word on dict.leo.org though, cause I’m simply to lazy and don’t give a sh*t. :) So be aware of that. This of course still means that you can comment in German or in English, it doesn’t matter … as long as you leave a damn comment!

Working kitchen, tasty food

So what’s next? Oh yeah… what actually happened the last weeks. Well, let’s start of in the kitchen of my apartment here in Vienna. The most annoying thing was that the dishwasher broke after using it for about 5 times or so. There was a leak somewhere, don’t ask for details, … and it took 5 weeks to get the friggin thing repaired. At least it works now as supposed to, and I was able to try making Spareribs for the first time, using the Römertopf my mother bought me. Thanks again at this point. The first beta so to speak turned out pretty good, sure there are some things that can be improved, but especially the spicy-oyster-honey sauce was really tasty (for me). Here are some pics I took:

EndOfTheYear & #work

The first Friday in December was the day the annual EndOfTheYear-party for the employees of the company I work for took place. It was an amazing evening, we had a lot of fun and I got to know my colleagues better. I have to mention at this point how happy I am to be part of the most awesome team in the company! This makes working day by day much easier and sometimes even fun, and I’m looking forward to all that’s still to come in 2010 (twentyten that is). Also here some impressions for you, not from my camera though (thx):

Ski Opening Katschberg

Unfortunately I had to leave the party pretty early, otherwise I’m sure we would have been out until the early morning. Reason for my earlier departure was the trip to my hometown on the following Saturday. Reason was of course skiing,  although there was barely enough snow to do so. If spent to days at the mountain anyway (Katschberg),  met some friends from Vienna and skiing was great. Damaged my nearly new skis at the end though, so this has to be fixed soon. MQ on ice

After the weekend in Lungau there was nothing special going on. Lot of people became sick, work was as usual and everyone was preparing for Christmas. The next highlight was just one week ago, when my friend Buchi (yeah, this site is even more dead than mine, but thanks for reminding me to write something again) and his girlfriend came to visit me for the first time. Took them quite some time right? Well, at least they could make it in this year, which can’t be said of all of my ‘friends’ :P We spent an awesome evening with a fancy dinner at freiraum, unfortunately my girlfriend was still sick, so we have to repeat this asap. The next day my friend and me took over the responsibility of cooking for our ‘better halfs’ (?) – it’s a pity that we didn’t take some pictures though, maybe because a certain someone had a headache.

The day after, which was last Sunday, I met my sister in the city for a drink, which came back from London and will stay until after the Christmas holidays. It was a lovely cold and sunny afternoon, and I took the opportunity to take some pictures from snow in Vienna, as this doesn’t happen that often. Here we go again:

What’s to come?

Well, to sum up: I’m doing pretty well here in Vienna. Life and work are good, I’m enjoying my apartment, although there’s still of work to do  – but that’ll have to wait until next year. I’ll drive together with my sister to the Lungau this evening, starting in 2 hours actually. I’ll be spending the next two days there, hopefully with some skiing but weather conditions seem to be terrible. Saturday I’ll be with the family of my girlfriend, and than back to Vienna for some working. Maybe there will be a short update the next days, but don’t wait for it :)

Übernachtung

Das Sofa im Wohnzimmer ist ausziehbar und bietet somit Schlafplatz für bis zu zwei Personen. Bisher ist sie noch ungetestet, bin ja schon gespannt wer der/die Erste sein wird. Ansonsten ist alles eigentlich eh wie immer. Bilder von der Sponsion kommen auch noch, allerdings muss ich sie noch (wie meinen Tweets zu entnehmen war) durch Lightroom jagen, was auf dem derzeit angeschlossenen, unkalibrierten Fernseher etwas sinnlos ist – dauert also noch.

Ich weiß gar nicht mehr genau, wo ich letztens aufgehört habe. Auf alle Fälle sind die großen Möbel fertig aufgebaut und ich warte eigentlich derzeit nur noch sehnsüchtig auf die Lieferung der Couch. Angeblich 7-10 Tage, wohl eher 10-x wie es derzeit aussieht. Hat sich zumindest noch niemand gemeldet.

Wohnung

Eine erste Pflanze habe ich auch bereits erhalten, die ganzen restlichen ‘kleinen’ Ergänzungen zur Verbesserung des Wohngefühls fehlen aber derzeit noch. Vielleicht schauen wir uns ja dieses Wochenende wieder diesbezüglich um, vorher sollte ich aber zumindest mal den ersten Bruchteil vom Gehalt bekommen, sonst sieht’s eher schlecht aus. Neben der Arbeit ist diese Woche besonders vom internationalen Fußballgeschehen geprägt. Nach den letzten zwei Abenden CL steht heute noch die EL an. Ob man sich wohl irgendwo im grün/violetten Wien auch die Salzburger ansehen kann? ^^

Bamboo

Fotos habe ich übrigens noch immer keine gemacht, da muss ich euch noch um ein paar weitere Tage Geduld bitten. Immherhin versuche ich ja die Seite an sich im Gegensatz zu meinen Kollegen am Leben zu halten … auch wenn nicht viel Zeit dafür ist. Am Samstag wollen wir ein interessantes Restaurant im 5ten erstmals probieren (Bamboo), vielleicht gibt es darüber etwas zu berichten als nächstes. Abschließend bleibt mir nur den Bullen (und Celtic)  für heute Abend die Daumen zu drücken und euch einen schönen Abend zu wünschen.
